FAQ

Common questions.

Is there a minimum investment?

There's no fixed income threshold — viability is shown through your business plan and available funds. Sectors of national interest (tech, tourism, renewables, services, agriculture) are favoured.

Do you set up the company for me?

Yes. Company incorporation, a corporate bank account and a tailored business plan are all part of the D2 service.

Can my family come with me?

Yes. Your spouse or partner, children and dependents can be included in the same process.

How long does the D2 take?

Typically around 6–10 months end to end, depending on your business setup and consulate. We map your timeline on the first call.

What kind of business qualifies?

There's no fixed sector requirement, but a credible business plan and viable funding are key. Sectors of national interest — tech, tourism, renewables, services and agriculture — are looked on favourably.

Does the D2 lead to permanent residency and citizenship?

Yes. It's a renewable residency route with a path to permanent residency and, in time, Portuguese citizenship.

Do I need to live in Portugal full-time?

The D2 has minimum-stay requirements to keep the residency valid. We explain exactly how much time you need to spend in Portugal.

Do I need to speak Portuguese for the D2?

Not for the visa itself. A basic level (A2) only matters later, if you apply for citizenship.
